Notre Dame (9) vs Louisville
Monday, September 2 nd, 8:00 PM in Cardinal Stadium
Swinging Johnson: This week Doug Upstone and that I shall deviate from our regularly scheduled program of NFL discussion to dip our feet and also render our college football picks on the Monday night match between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Louisville Cardinals.
It will probably be the very first and only time this year we do this, as the previous week of exhibition NFL football is somewhat lackluster in comparison to some regular-season game of NCAA football comprising one of the very best clubs in the country, and a mythical football program to boot, Notre Dame.
Without further ado, lets start the discussion after my buddy Doug Upstone got the better of me last week with a wager on the Steelers while the Titans were endorsed by me. We have been swapping wins back and forth so it appears like its my turn to the wreath, as I will accompany the squares putting the thick lumber on a road favorite and heartily endorse the Irish.
After reviewing the school football odds nearly six days ahead of the Monday night event, I see the line has spiked a half-point on the preferred, opening at Notre Dame -19 1/2 to where its now offered in a solid -20 across the board whatsoever of the best online sportsbooks.
You are currently leaning on the Cardinals in this clash although doug, I like the Irish. Besides the venue, why is it that you think Louisville could hang with the boys from South Bend?
Doug Upstone: Yup and a triumph IMO, said a great deal about the direction of the Steelers and Titans. Lets move to real soccer, where the games count and so will our recordings on this one.
Remember Louisville utilized to play against big-name competitions? They held their engineered and own upsets. These were enjoyable games to see and the Cardinals were an golf club.
But like the former Papa Johns Stadium as well as its fake (in real life) proprietor, Louisville football last season was worse than a three-day-old pizza.
Scott Satterfield will be out win matches and to change the culture and worked miracles. This wont happen immediately as the talent level is down from theVille. This is a huge moment for Louisville, a group which has the chance.
I have read where the Cards coaches have sped up the slow mechanisms of QB Jawon Pass (great name for a QB) and I like Hassan Hall as the direct running back. The shield that makes me more worried than having a ticket for the Colts at OVER 9. Why you have your Irish up, please dont forget.
Swinging Johnson: The Cardinals will not be doing much flying in this match as the Notre Dame defense will keep them comfortable in their nest. Scott Satterfield is in the big leagues and hes got a group coming from a dismal 2-10 record where they went winless in ACC activity this past year. This rebuild is comparable to seeking to turn it and carrying a hot air balloon.
While this may eventually happen, the issue is that Louisville is confronting a group which made it to the CFP last year and possessed one of the stingiest defenses in all of college football, surrendering just 17.2 points over the regular season and going a perfect 12-0 till they met Clemson from the CFP semifinals. The Irish offense was clicking on all cylinders as well, averaging 33 points per match over.
My question is, how can be a quarterback like traveling who is slow to discharge, supposed to obtain any traction against a swarming defense? Especially when he is working with a completely new offensive scheme and a trainer?
Please, Doug, save me I am lost! I find no way, shape or form in which Louisville is going to be able to keep up and I am desperate to the brand new wisdom and handicapping expertise that is prodigious!
Doug Upstone: Well, Swinger, Im pleased to read in your last sentence you are coming on to the glowing side of sports betting, or you are simply being the exact identical shrewd a** you usually are. I will let the SBR readers that are currently making school football picks decide on that. I am the first to realize Louisville was, however, 1-11 ATS and sucked last year.
Just like he gave up about the Atlanta Falcons, but that team COMPLETELY gave up on coach Bobby Petrino. A new attitude is brought by A new coach on building a statement, and this being a game, his staff will be sold by Satterfield. Louisville does need to hope they will not be taken by the Irish and not have much fight.
Lets also think about, Brian Kelly using gold and the blue is simply 10-13-1 ATS as a road favorite, and a mere 7-9-1 ATS if dishing out 20 or more digits. That defense you mentioned might improve as the year progresses but substituting five starters, even when you dont/can not recruit like Bama or Clemson, it is going to take time.
I was a bit facetious because although youve got an impressive handicapping restart, then you miss the mark from time to time. And in this instance, because Louisville could be better compared to last year but Id submit that they could be trained by a Rhesus monkey and improve upon their deplorable record rendered by an equally awkward coach such as Petrino you happen to be shooting blanks.
I know that placing nearly 3 touchdowns on the road would be square biz for sure and Joe Q. Public never got rich by betting the heavy road chalk, but on occasion the public is correct, and in this situation they definitely are. Until next week when we get down on our NFL Game of the Week, lets see what happens on Monday night once the Irish come ready to squint at Louisville.
Free College Football Pick: Swinging Johnson — Notre Dame -20 (-110)
Free College Football Pick: Doug Upstone — Louisville +20 (-110)

YOUR LAST-MINUTE GUIDE TO WAGERING ON THE 2018 WINTER OLYMPICS BETTING ODDS. Figure Skating (Individual)

Figure Skating (Individual)

Where: Gangneung Ice Arena
When: February 9-23
Favorites: Men – Yuzuru Hanyu, Japan (+175); Nathan Chen, U.S. (+200); Shoma Uno, Japan (+200); Women – Evgenia Medvedeva, Russia (+100); Alina Zagitova, Russia (+175); Kaetlyn Osmond, Canada (+600).
The person figure skating competition is expected to see multiple Russian and Japanese podium finishes. However, as we’ve seen in the past, all it requires is one misstep to completely change the medal table. Not one of those men’s contenders have satisfactorily separated themselves from the pack, while a pair of female Russian skaters come in well before the remainder of the area.
Hanyu is a ever-so-slight favorite on the men’s side as the defending Olympic and world champion, however, has settled for a pair of second-place finishes at events in Moscow and Montreal this year. Chen defeated Hanyu in Russia and has won every significant event in which he’s competed this year. Uno seized Skate Canada and has two firsts and three seconds in 2017-18.
On the women’s side, Medvedeva is the one to beat despite suffering a leg injury earlier in the season. She has three victories and a runner-up end at the European Championships on her resume. Training partner Zagitova has won all five events in which she has competed this season, such as the Euros. Osmond is a long shot but prevailed at Skate Canada in Regina past October.

England stretch lead over Australia but lose Joe Root by lunch on day three at The Oval

Their lead extended by lunch on day three of the fifth Ashes Test to 157 for the loss of 2 wickets, with the late dismissal of Joe Root to Nathan Lyon dampening a bit an strong opening session.??
SCORECARD | COMMENTARY
Much like the late September sunshine that drenched The Oval, England sizzled early using the bat, even Joe Denly specifically playing quite through to 37 not out.
Denly struck five boundaries and a half in the session, the first of that arrived off Pat Cummins’ third chunk of the day – a fantastic, straight drive beyond mid-range – while he plundered 10 off two chunks in Lyon’s opening over, starting a straight six to the stands.
It was part of a transparent, aggressive gameplan from England from the offspinner, perhaps not wanting Lyon to settle to a spell onto a pitch that is beginning to divide however, while 20 runs came from his first three overs, Rory Burns departed for 20 in the final of these when looking to play with one attacking shot too many.
Burns went following a short, wide one but succeeded only in bottom-edging his attempted cut through to the wicketkeeper, while Root (21) edged Lyon to slip second ball as he had been brought back in the attack just prior to the break.

Prince Abdullah backs Chris Wilder to lead Sheffield United to ‘better and bigger things’

Chris Wilder is really a”great coach” and will be endorsed to lead Sheffield United into”better and bigger things”, says soon-to-be only owner Prince Abdullah.
Lifelong Blades fan Wilder has directed the team two promotions in three phases, such as a return to the Premier League for the first time since 2007.
Even the Saudi prince, that won a 18-month-long legal battle with fellow co-owner Kevin McCabe over the club’s possession on Monday, states Sheffield United are”lucky” to have the Englishman accountable in Bramall Lane.
“I’ve a very good connection with Chris,” Prince Abdullah told Sky Sports News. “I know a great coach when I see you. Chris is a superb coach. He is going to get better and he is getting better.
“For us I feel it’s fortunate that we found a trainer just like Chris. But in my own philosophy and when you examine why golf clubs are powerful… large clubs would be the clubs that don’t have any personality over the club.
“There isn’t any owner, trainer or player over the club. All of us work for the club.
“We’re lucky to have Chris. We are going to encourage him and he will lead us to better and bigger things.”
Prince Abdullah says since the club aim to preserve their status in the Premier 27, he’ll assess the move funding for January of the club together with Wilder.
Sheffield United broke their transfer record for a while this summer with the registering of Oli McBurnie out of Swansea for #17m and the prince insists the club have to be”cautious and prepared for the future.”
“The transport budget for this year was #30m. Also you can ask Chris Wilder, also my ex-partner and I struggled hard, and it was increased by us on #40m.
“This is significantly more than many Premier League clubs have spent. In January speak to Chris and we must appear at our position in the desk. We will do.
“We constantly need to be reasonable and responsible.
“It isn’t about spending, it’s all about spending wisely. God forbid we get relegated, we do not wish to purchase the type of player that will leave the club if we become blindsided since Sheffield United is a Premier League club.”
Prince Abdullah says he has no desire, although investment firm ALK Capital were understood to have already been lined up to purchase a vast majority stake in Sheffield United’d McCabe won the High Court case.
“In business you never say . But I can tell you I don’t have any intention of selling the club”
Prince Abdullah revealed he will appoint his son-in-law amid criticism from Blades supporters as chairman of the team for viewing the club in the scene on four events during his engagement within the last six decades.
“I really don’t like to see movies really. I love to watch games on TV with scatter. If we lose nobody speaks with me. I get to forget about it,” he said.
“I intend to appoint my son in law as a chairman of the club. My daughter and he will proceed to Sheffield. They’ll dwell in Sheffield and also be at all the games.”
On winning over fans:”It’s a club with a fantastic history. It is. It is a huge responsibility. Talk is cheap but I think lovers, if they look back four or five years from today, they will be happy.”
About Kevin McCabe:”I will consistently treat Kevin McCabe with respect. I gave Kevin many offers (for a compromise) – attorneys are costly. We could not agree.”
On the part of Belgian coach and board director Jan Van Winckel:”He has among the best eyes for talent. He told me to purchase Yaya Toure if he was (playing with ) in Belgium. I will use him Chris is the surface of the club and his decisions about the first team are the choices we’ll proceed with.”
On plans for Bramall Lane:”Bramall Lane for me is now the most prestigious on the planet. We are just likely to make it better. We are going to make the facilities better, the enthusiast experience ”

Rugby World Cup 2019: Warren Gatland shocked as Rob Howley sent home

Our partners use technologies, like biscuits, and collect data that is browsing to provide you with the best experience and to personalise the information and advertising.
Please let us know if you agree.
From Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales in Kitakyushu, Japan
Wales boss Warren Gatland was”shocked” when backs coach Rob Howley was sent home in the World Cup to get an alleged betting breach.
But he considers the setback won’t derail the group from Japan.
Howley’s death came only six days ahead of Wales’ opening match against Pool D opponents Georgia.
Welsh Rugby Union chief executive Martyn Phillips confirmed that there would be an investigation.
“You have to deal with adversity sometimes, and it’s the way you respond and react to this,” said Gatland.
“We were shocked. The Union are dealing with this, and that my focus must be concerning preparing the squad for the first game against Georgia on the next five times.
“I must say that the gamers in the last 24 hours have stepped up and they have been exceptionally resilient and responsible, and sometimes that attracts teams closer together.”
“At the present time, all these are allegations. Evidently, the allegations ruined Rob. That is all I could say.”
Information of Howley’s death emerged on Tuesday, with the WRU verifying the 48-year-old had”returned to Wales to assist with an investigation” in relation to a possible breach of betting on rugby.
World Rugby’s regulation 6.3.1 reads:”No connected person will, directly or indirectly, wager or attempt to wager on the result or some other part of any associated occasion and/or get and/or try to get part or all the profits of any such bet or some other advantage in relation to a bet.”
Phillips stated the WRU was informed of the alleged breach by the ethics team of a company last Wednesday, when Wales’ squad traveled to Japan.
Phillips and other senior WRU figures came in Japan on Monday and later that afternoon he met Howley, who he said has been”very cooperative”.
“Then we had another meeting after that day and determined the ideal course of action would be for Rob to return to Wales,” explained Phillips.
“We are on the eve of the World Cup, the biggest tournament we play in, and that was a variable.
“However, equally, we were very aware that we had to act quickly and be crucial. That’s exactly what we’ve done.
“I’m also very conscious that we now have rather a vast assortment of stakeholders which we represent. The Welsh public and just how important this tournament would be to them, not least.
“Finally, it turned into a serious allegation about Rob. He’s our worker and now we have a duty of care for him and his welfare is valuable to us.”
Coaches and players are educated about betting regulations but Phillips stated the alleged violation of Howley did not reflect on the approach of the WRU.
“I would not call it embarrassing. The key point for us was that as and when we were alerted it’s what you do,” he said.
“It is very tough to get something about something you do not know about. I’m pleased in the way we and World Rugby have responded – exactly what we are currently seeing is taking the allegation seriously.
“They [players and coaches ] get briefings [about gambling regulations] to a regular basis and they signal to confirm they understand what is required of these on a regular basis so without a shadow of a doubt I believe people in rugby know what’s required of them”
Wales have delivered to fill the gap left by Howley’s sudden departure, in which they face Georgia on Monday, and the Scarlets backs trainer will join the squad on Thursday at Toyota.
Jones, a former Wales and British and Irish Lions fly-half, has been confirmed as the next Wales backs coach underneath Wayne Pivac, who will take the reins following the tournament out of Gatland.
“I’ve talked to him [Jones] and stated regarding the game plan we’ve obtained for Georgia it will differ for different matches,” said Gatland.
“He’s familiar with a few of the things and has been watching the games also. It is important he has an chance to bring his own suggestions and introduce them.
“We’re planning for the second match and we’ve spoken to the senior players around keeping and that one or two things our sleeves up.
“It’s no different to the message we deliver to the gamers – we are not arrogant enough not to take thoughts on board. If Stephen does that excellent. It was a conversation that is positive.
“It has not really changed our groundwork. We have set items in place. [Skills coach] Neil Jenkins has a large amount of expertise. Rhys Patchell and dan Biggar have obtained on a massive amount of senior players, obligation and backs too.
“There is a lot already in place in terms of trainings for Monday – it’s important we train nicely in the upcoming few days and get ourselves prepared.”
When information of Howley’s departure broke, tuesday, was also the 56th birthday of Gatland cake.
Despite the chance of being with no man who was at his side Gatland did afford himself a wry grin.
“I’ve had better birthdays for certain,” he explained.
“It’s all part of the life encounter .”

Steve Clarke urges Scotland to learn from Russia defeat against San Marino

As they prepare to confront Group that I minnows San 33, steve Clarke has urged his Scotland side to not dwell on their 4-0 defeat but to learn the lessons.
Scotland are in the team using six points going into Sundays round of games, 12 points behind second-placed Russia plus a further three points adrift of Belgium.
On making it to Euro 2020 through the play-off place, that leaves Clarkes side reliant they earnt following a National League competition, instead of the European Qualifiers.
The game against bottom club San Marino – yet to register a goal, let alone a point during qualification – has therefore come at the ideal time and Clarke needs his players to turn in a positive performance in front of their home fans at Hampden Park, live on Sky Sports.
Were just seeking to get over the disappointment at the other night and prepare for our next match, explained Clarke.
What is gone is gonewe have to learn from it. I believe in adversity you always find out more than when matters are favorable sometimes.
So we must learn those lessons, stay together as a group and we have to turn the corner and what better way to turn the corner compared to the match tomorrow .
Clarke has verified Sunderland goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin will start in place of David Marshall because he looks to relive several areas of the squad.
One which will be a definite change – plus it turned out to be a pre-planned change – David Marshall will alter and Jon McLaughlin will perform with, added Clarke.
I require a second goalkeeper with more caps, more experience to perform. This was always planned.

New York Knicks

This summer will ascertain whether this ranking is way too high or laughably low. For now, so it ought to be just perfect.
The’Bockers are almost a blank canvas. The Kristaps Porzingis deadline deal erased most of long-term obligations. Their highest guaranteed salary for next season is Frank Ntilikina’s $4.9 million. No dream is too large for the Knicks right now. Since Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale broke down, it’s not impossible to discover a situation in which Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis all call Madison Square Garden house next season.
Is it likely? Not in the least. But when the Knicks have their built-in marketplace benefits, plus plenty of cap room and a decent shot at securing the No. 1 pick, that’s an army of assets many clubs would struggle to match.
Obviously, there’s also an floor.
Cap space might not mean Irving and/or Durant. Maybe it’s Kemba Walker and Khris Middleton. Maybe it’s no one. Considering that the revamped lottery chances, the Knicks might end up drafting fourth or fifth. So, instead of Zion Williamson (and a possible path to Davis), possibly the draft haul is just Cam Reddish or Jarrett Culver.
New York already has some childhood set up, although its possible is in flux. While Mitchell Robinson looks ahead of schedule and Allonzo Trier has been a huge surprise, Kevin Knox looks predictably raw. Moreover, Dennis Smith Jr. is far from a sure thing, also Ntilikina’s outlook is cloudy at best.

California Online Betting

If the gaming industry must settle for state-by-state legalization, California represents the Holy Grail of online betting in the US. It is the most populous country in the union with a $2 trillion market which could rank number 8 in the world when it had its own country. International gambling sites have gone out of their way to acquire licenses in countries much smaller than California.
All eyes are on California as states mull legalizing various forms of online gambling. If California does ever go the method of legalization, it would by default become the standard in which gaming has been measured in the United States. If the state does finally dominate gambling and it is successful, other nations will surely follow suit. We may even see something eventually happen at the national level.
Different pieces of legislation have been released, taken down and reintroduced in the past several years. We don’t have anything important to report yet, but many observers are cautiously optimistic that California will sooner or later make a significant move toward legalization. Here is why:
The country has a pro-gambling culture The country already has lawful casinos and card rooms
It’s home to numerous Indian tribes That Are experienced in gaming California has a spending problem and the potential tax revenues must surely be enticing for state lawmakers

Sports Betting at California
Lawmakers in California have demonstrated some interest in legalizing sports betting of late. A bill introduced at the 2017/18 session proposed amending existing gaming law to allow the California legislature to authorize sports gambling determined by the Supreme Court overturning the national sports gambling ban (which it did).
ACA 18 itself did not seek to legalize wagering; it instead offered a constitutional amendment that would enable lawmakers to legalize and regulate sports betting later on. After he introduced the bill, Assemblyman Adam Gray said,”The decision is not’should we have sports wagering or not possess sports wagering.’ We all do have sports wagering.”
The point he was making is that sports gambling is already a massive black market in California and across the USA. The American Gaming Association quotes Americans wager at least $154 billion each year on sports with online sportsbooks and local bookies contrary to the law. The current condition prohibition is not functioning, the logic goes, so the smart thing to do is legalize it, regulate it and tax it.
A report by Eilers & Krejcik Gambling published in 2017 considers California is likely to legalize sports gambling in five years from the date of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn PASPA. California has lots of potential to turn into a major sports betting market, but as you’ll read in the next section, competing interests in the state have a propensity to complicate things.
Assemblyman Gray introduced the exact same legislation in 2018 and 2019 since he continues to push the issue. Finding the tribal groups board has been exceedingly hard since they control an $8 billion gaming industry and therefore are highly reluctant to get on board with sports betting at risk of starting their lucrative compacts with the state to discussion once again.
Online Poker in California
The quest for internet poker in California is being fought in the courtrooms as you read these words. Bills seeking to regulate internet poker have been introduced annually since 2007. Not one of these bills have made it all the way through the legislative process because of vying factions on either side of the matter, but every year brings us closer to finding an arrangement that satisfied all parties that are interested.
In reality, a lot of the difficulty can be attributed to rival interests in the nation. It appears everybody has an agenda and it isn’t easy to find consensus among the Indian tribes, Cuban operators and present online brands. 1 group or another always feels left out or targeted from the wording of legislation. And to be honest, that is often a legitimate concern.
To add to the problem, there are still strong lobbying groups that actively fight the legalization of poker or any other form of online gaming in the united states. Casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson has pledged to fight legalization across the country. In California alone, he spent over $300,000 to lobby against poker.
Not a single one of the bills introduced over the last decade-plus has made considerable progress due to the various competing interests in the nation. The following bill is Only One of many efforts to make something happen in California, but it serves as a Normal example of how complex and difficult it is to make progress in California:
AB 2291: Promising Start but Died in Committee
Meeting Bill 2291 was introduced back in February 2014 but not made it outside the committee period. It was reintroduced in 2015 and 2016, but was still unable to gain the traction it needed to make it much in the legislative process.
The bill sought to legalize online poker only and issue 10-year permits to operators. The suggested fee for licensing has been initially set at $5,000,000, with this fee being used to offset future taxes. Lawmakers bumped that fee up several times before the fee hit a high of $12,500,000 without offsetting taxes.
Historical versions of AB 2291 contained several clauses that have caused tension between various factions competing for a piece of the poker pie. Most contentious among them is a”bad actor” clause. AB 2291 initially sought to require potential licensees to get a minimum of five decades of gambling experience in California. Additionally, it required every facet of an operation, by its own employees to its gear to its bank account to be held in condition.
In essence, AB 2291 could have prevented all of current internet poker providers and newer neighborhood casinos in California from competing. The wording of the bill very clearly preferred a few established California casino classes at the cost of fair competition.
Another issue with AB 2291 was that it might have banned California from entering agreements with other nations to unite player pools and enhance liquidity. In other words, you’d only see other Californians in the table however many sates legalize poker. To top it off, the bill would require the country to determine of any laws passed at the federal level permitting internet poker.
Some progress was made in 2016 with a suggested amendment that could significantly alter the lousy actor clause. Formerly, the bill would have barred all online poker companies that operated after the passing of this federal Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. Such limitations would have banned established brand for example PokerStars from entering the marketplace.
The last amendment proposes to instead move the cut-off date for the awful actor clause up towards the end of 2011. In other words, sites such as PokerStars that functioned after the UIGEA but left the marketplace following the Black Friday indictments in 2011. This would stop the most egregious violators from entering the market but afford PokerStars an opportunity to offer online poker legally in California. You can read more about the proposal here.
Looking back in 2018: The Good and Bad
The Bad Lawmakers and tribal groups are stuck in stalemate for about four decades now. It is nice to see some improvement on this front, but it is also discouraging to see that the outright stubbornness on the part of varying factions. Poker players would be better served through an open and competitive marketplace and player-sharing arrangements with other states.
Worse than all that, online poker appears to have taken a step back in 2018. For the first time in more than a decade, no bills trying to legalize online poker have been introduced. Assemblyman Reggie Jones-Sayer told Online Poker Report that he’s giving up on online poker legislation for this year because there is simply no progress being made in reaching a compromise between the tribes, local card rooms and other interested parties.
The Good There are some positive things to say about most of this. If poker is really legalized in California, the possible player pool will much larger than what we have seen in other nations that have legalized online poker. Besides the fact that 38 million people call California home, the state has a poker civilization already thanks to its many brick-and-mortar card rooms.
California is very likely to have fewer issues with geolocation of gamers due to its sheer size. New Jersey had all types of issues verifying players were really located within the state. This ended up with loads of possible players being barred in the state-sanctioned sites there. California does not have to compete with congested cities piled up on country boundaries.
Fantasy Sports
Whenever the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) was passed in 2006, it provided two noteworthy exceptions to online gaming: horse racing and fantasy sports. The UIGEA didn’t merely exempt these kinds of gaming; it basically gave operators the go-ahead to provide their games to customers right here in the united states.
Some states have since passed legislation banning online fantasy sports but California isn’t one of these. If you’ve got a thing for sports betting but prefer to do it at a safe and controlled fashion, fantasy sports is your way to go. You draft a team just like in regular dream leagues but now you get paid real cash if you win.
FanDuel.com and DraftKings.com will be the two largest players in this marketplace. They accept customers from CA and offer single-day fantasy leagues such as the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, college basketball and college football.
One of the nice things about online fantasy sports is every contest only lasts for a day per week at the most. You’re not stuck with one team all season. Rather, your team stands up stats over the duration of a single week. You can play in heads-up competitions against other gamers or test your skill in enormous tournaments that sometimes give away more than a million dollars to the first place winner.

Legislative Efforts for Daily Fantasy in California
2016 was an important year for its daily fantasy sports business in California. In January of 2016, lawmakers introduced AB 1437 in an attempt to make a regulatory framework for everyday fantasy sports sites. If enacted, the bill would need DFS websites to obtain a license, apply a minimum age of 21 for all customers, hold all customers’ funds in a segregated account and offer self-exclusion programs for problem gamblers.
The bill advanced previous three major votes by a total of 101 for and two against. This is an important bill for California and it looks increasingly likely to be passed into legislation. However, the bill itself does not really legalize online fantasy sports contests; it only sets the conditions by which the industry would be regulated.
California Attorney General Kamala Harris is expected to issue a ruling on whether or not fantasy competitions constitute illegal gambling under law. If she principles favorably, AB 1437 will have all set up to license and controlled fantasy sites immediately. The AG’s judgment has been anticipated for more than a year now. Meanwhile, California dream sports sites continue to function freely.
As of 2019, advancement on the bill appears to have completely stalled. The fantastic news is fantasy sports sites continue to be active through the state. Legalizing fantasy sports in California would basically be a formality now.
Online Casinos
There are not any lawful casinos in California. The nation has not even attempted to pass legislation in this regard so it’s going to likely be years until we see legitimate gaming websites open to CA residents.
Don’t be tricked by the countless different websites that are currently recommending”legal” internet casinos. All these are actually offshore gaming sites that have no legal presence whatsoever in the USA. They are unlicensed and completely unregulated.
Although to be fair, there aren’t any state or federal laws which prohibit playing at offshore casinos. Should you choose to play online, nobody will come kick in your front door. The biggest risk is financial — you never know for sure who you’re dealing with on the opposite side of the screen. Some offshore casinos could be safe while others are clearly outright scams. But regardless of where you play, you don’t have any legal recourse when things go belly up.
Your best option is to look at any of the other authorized, licensed and safe forms of gambling that are available at this time in California. Between horse racing, fantasy sports and also many likely online poker very soon, there are still lots of different ways to play real money games online at safe, accredited websites based in the US.
Horse Betting
Online horse racing is alive and well in California. The horse betting situation here is not nearly as complex as the poker situation. California does allow residents to perform US-licensed horse wagering websites for example TwinSpires, BetAmerica and TVG.
All the significant US-based horse gambling sites accept customers from California. The country also enables off-track betting (OTB) facilities. OTB facilities operate as brick-and-mortar betting shops where people may walk in, put bets on races and collect their winnings in person.
Five racetracks run across the country and they also allow for real money wagering. In total, you can bet online at any of the approved horse gambling websites, off-track at an OTB place or in-person at some of the tracks listed below. California is also home to county and state fairs that hold races at different times each year.
The California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) manages all horse racing and wagering within the state. The CHRB’s mission is to ensure the integrity, viability and security of the state’s horse racing industry. They manage wagering, breeding, bodily security and the marketing of horse racing.

Internet Bingo
There appears to be no motivation to specifically legalize online bingo in California. The only realistic chance I see online bingo coming to California is if it gets caught up in some future online casino legislation.
Lottery Games
Ca lottoThe California state lottery isn’t authorized to sell tickets on the internet or through telephone. For many years, the federal Wire Act prohibited states from selling lottery tickets on the internet. This might not be the case forever. In 2009, New York and Illinois requested the Department of Justice to explain its stance on the Wire Act and clarify exactly which types of online gambling were prohibited.
The DOJ reacted in 2011 with a decision that’d far-reaching effects beyond just the lottery. Back in September of 2011, the DOJ issued an announcement that its official interpretation of the Wire Act only applies to sports betting on the net. This gave countries the go-ahead to sell tickets on the internet if they select.
Lottery Subscription Websites California has not yet joined the growing list of states that sell lottery tickets on the web. However, there are a number of messenger services which will go buy lottery tickets at face value for a monthly subscription fee. You can log into those websites, pay attention for your tickets and then the corporation is going to go and buy tickets on your title.
By way of instance, LottoGopher.com is a California-based membership site that offers this specific service. The website is registered in California, its owners are background-checked by lottery commission officials also it abides by all federal and state legislation. They are not legally permitted to sell lotto tickets for more than face value, so they rather charge users a subscription fee.
A membership at LottoGopher lets you purchase tickets online, pick certain amounts as well as form lotto pools with other members. Should you win less than $600, Lotto Gopher will credit the winnings to your account which you may then draw straight to the bank. If you win more than $600, Lotto Gopher will claim the prize on your behalf in person and then send you a check for the complete amount.
The website does not require a cut of your winnings. They only way they make money is by charging customers a flat subscription fee. At this time, LottoGopher is only available in California. You can learn more and give it a try here:

Is Lotto Gopher untrue?
Yes. They’re located in California and say lottery officials understand who they are. It is good that you ask though since there are tons of online lotto websites which look and feel legit but are not. Lotto Gopher really is legal and 100% legit.
They have been all over the press in recent years as well. Forbes and ABC have written articles about the support.
